Thirdly, the construction of the building began on March 17, 1930, and finished on April 11, 1931. Fourthly, the building was opened to the general public on May 1, 1931. Sixthly, it surpassed the Chrysler Building and became the world’s tallest building before it was surpassed by the North Tower of the World Trade Center as the tallest building on earth.
